Historical Cookbook

 
The Houston County Heritage and Historical Cookbook is a historical book edited by Dorothy Harrison.  This historical book offers hundreds of recipes that are at least 50 years old.  Along with the many recipes listed in this book there are historic photographs of people and buildings around Crockett and Houston County photographed by Suzanne Steed.  This special Historical Houston County Cookbook covers main entrees to side dishes, desserts and breads.  All of the recipes are fully indexed along with photographs.  This historical piece is great for gifts and safe keeping.  To purchase a copy of the book please contact the Crockett Area Chamber office at 936-544-2359.  

 

 

 

 

2010 Crockett Area Chamber Annual Awards Banquet

The Crockett Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated its Annual Awards Banquet on Tuesday, February 16. The Chamber was proud to announce the awards delegated to deserving individuals; 2009 Business of the Year-Community Care Center of Crockett, Volunteer of the Year-Jessica Murff, Citizen of the Year-Lonnie Hunt, Ambassador Team of the Year includes; team captain, Shirley Michka, Rusty Baker, Diana Peterson, Jeri Sulewski, Diana Santone, Karen Johnson, Connie LaRue, Catherine McCall, Julie Newton and Afton Johnson.

Senator Steve Ogden was the guest speaker of the night. Ogden spoke briefly about how important education is to the young minds of Texas.  He spoke about Economic Development and our children growing and becoming involved locally with the Economic Development implemented.  Ogden hit hard on "shopping at home" and helping out neighboring businesses as much as we can.

Doc's BBQ catered the Banquet with steaks, potatoes, beans, rolls and peach cobbler and ice-cream for dessert. The Crockett Area Chamber of Commerce would like to thank everyone who made the Annual Awards Banquet a success.
